Week 11: What keeps you from doing something about Global Issues?

There are a lot of things that we can do to make a positive change, even if it is small. Talk about a global issue that you could do something about but don't. What are the obstacles? Comment on one peer's posting.

Example: I could recycle more at my house

Obstacles: Time, effort, Trash pickup does not recycle and there is no dump in Carver

  19. If I had the means I would end world hunger. But it is not that easy, and I myself.. just one person.. could not feed all of the hungry people throughout the world.

  20. camx - Thank-you for being honest. The only problem is that if everyone has that attitude, eventually, we will all be effected dramatically and it will be everyone's problem.

  23. People could save cans and recycle them when they go to walmart or something, because you make a few extra bucks and it's helping the enviornment... Usually I just end up throwing cans out though, because I don't want to have a million cans lying around my house all the time.....

Stephanie said that we can turn off lights when they're not in use, which seems simple enough. But if you leave a light on upstairs sometimes you just don't have the willpower to get back up and turn it off.

  33. Well, i could probably recycle paper at my house, but the obstacle is my laziness. Plus the fact that no one else in my family cares about Global Issues.

  51. A global issue that i could do something about is help prevent hunger in America, i could do it by donatying $$ to a fund. Did you know that 1 in 8 Americans suffer from hunger? The only thing stopping me is the fact that I need every penny I get. I like Cjs idea of riding motercycles everywhere, it seems like fun and convenient.
