  1. Everyone can STOP drinking soda completely, exercise more, eat more healthy stuff (like fruits, veggies, fish, whole grains, beans, nuts, tofu, etc.), eat less junk food (like chocolate, sugar, and stuff like that!), and start drinking more tea like the British and Asians.

  2. The problem is that fattening foods are made available EVERYWHERE. People with busy lifestyles, (work, school, etc.) are going to be more likely to stop at McDonald's or something, grab some food, and keep doing what they have to do.. People eat fast food because it's convenient, but if fast food wasn't available every 5 miles, people would have to slow down and make healthy meals...

  3. The problem is there are fast food restaurants everywhere, and many people work late and do not want to cook dinner when they get home. People choose to not make healthy choices, due to their busy lifestyles. What we can do about this is advertise more things about healthy food and less about fast food restaurants.

  5. One of the main problems is overconsumption. People are eating too much calories for their energy needs. People need to cut down on sugary snacks and drinks.

  8. One of the main probs of obesity IS NOT A VIRUS PEOPLE!!! IT'S THOSE RIDICULUOUS PRICES!!! The crappier and unhealthy the food is the less you have to pay for it. The better the food is, (and better tasting in my opinion), the more you have to pay for it. What's up America?! I mean seriously, WAKE UP!!!

  15. Globally, there are more than 1 billion overweight adults, at least 300 million of them obese. Obesity and overweight pose a major risk for chronic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and stroke, and certain forms of cancer. The key causes are increased consumption of energy-dense foods high in saturated fats and sugars, and reduced physical activity.

  17. We can solve the problem by creating supportive environments through public policies that promote a variety of low-fat, high-fibre foods, and that provide opportunities for physical activity.

  18. 1. A combination of dieting and exercise (when you stick to it) appears to work better than either one alone. Sticking to a weight reduction program is difficult and requires a lot of support from family and friends.

    2. The decision to keep fit requires a lifelong commitment of time and effort. Patience is essential. You should always check with your health care provider before you begin any new form of exercise.

  19. People are fat and overweight because there to lazy to play sports, theyd rather just sit at home and play video games. Stop complaining that your fat, your the only one who can change it. Dont blame anyone but yourself if you dont like it, change it. Too many people care about what other people think, Im fat..But i dont complain about it :)

  20. I think some people have a problem eating healthy because many people automatically think that healthy food is yucky. But if you are creative with it, anyone can find yummy food. :) lol

  21. I like Anthonys comment because its honest. I do not agree with the idea that you have to play sports to be fit though. But overall Anthonys view is very similar to mine.

  22. afulmine14! It's they're :) I think you're right that if you have a problem with how you look then do something about it... At the same time, dont listen to what anyone says cause if you're comfortable with yourself, that's all that matters. :)

  23. The problem is that it is a human instinct to be lazy, to take the easy road. Most people will go to a fast food joint rather than eat, sit down and cook a meal, or even if they do cook a meal, it's like a hamburger or hotdog or something easy to cook.

In order to solve this, the government should show a video of what the fast food resturants are putting into their meat products, and how unsanitary the cooking area is. Thhis will open people's eyes to what they are eating.

Adults with a BMI greater than 30 are considered obese.

Anyone more than 100 pounds overweight or with a BMI greater than 40 is considered morbidly obese.

  25. These are some reasons for obesity in America...

    1. Sleep debt. Getting too little sleep can increase body weight. Today's Americans get less shut-eye than ever.

    2. Pollution. Hormones control body weight. And many of today’s pollutants affect our hormones.

    3. Air conditioning. You have to burn calories if your environment is too hot or too cold for comfort. But more people than ever live and work in temperature-controlled homes and offices.

    4. Decreased smoking. Smoking reduces weight. Americans smoke much less than they used to. '

these are very easy changes we can all do.

  26. I feel as if the problem is that we eat to many fast foods. The way we can solve it is by eating our fast food less or in proportions.

  27. The problem is lazy people that eat a lot of fat foods, such as fast foods, they dont excercise. If they excercise and get out to do something we wont have this problem

    ReplyDelete
  28. Much like lannyyyx33 said, it's how easily we can access fast food. If we're in a rush, we depend on fast food.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Everyone's busy lifestyles make us eat fast food, if the only choices for fast food are unhealthy cheeseburgers and french fries, we cannot eat healthy. So, if there are more healthier fast food choices, I predict a rate of obesity will go down.

  32. the problem is that so many people just don't care what they eat, they are to lazy to make food and they just want the food made for them, like mcdonalds and there is one every 2 ft so it wouldn't be a problem finding fast food. You can solve it by finding better food to eat which is better for you in the end

  35. "In all regions, obesity appears to escalate as income increases." Apparently, obesity is caused by income increases.

We can probably fix this by just controlling ourselves. Its your own fault, or your parents fault if your chubby. If you hate it, than fix it!

i agree with x3js09, MCDONALDS IS THE ONE TO BLAME.

  42. The problem why people are so obese is that there are many fast food restaurants. Many people have busy lifestyles which give them no choice but to stop at a fast food restaurant for lunch or dinner. Media has also expanded, so many people sit infront of the television or computer all day and have a lack of physical activity.

Kids don't exercise enough because they have tv's and video game systems.
