  2. I am researching Biodiversity.

Biodiversity is the variability among living organisms on the earth, including the variability within and between species and within and between ecosystems. This basically means that it is we need to protect plant and animal habitats because they help us survive. Every action leads to a reaction.

Biodiversity increases an ecosystems productivity so that every animal and plant species have and important role to play.

  5. I am doing my power point on Aids.

Initial infection with HIV can produce no symptoms. Some people, however, do experience flu-like symptoms with fever, rash, sore throat, and swollen lymph nodes, usually 2 weeks after contracting the virus. Some people with HIV infection remain without symptoms for years between the time the are exposed to the virus and when they develop AIDS.

AIDS is the fifth leading cause of death among people aged 25 - 44 in the United States

  7. My powerpoint is on child labor. Two interesting facts I learned are...

One in six children 5 to 14 years old, about 16 percent of all children in this age group, is involved in child labor in developing countries.

Worldwide, 126 million children work in hazardous conditions, often enduring beatings, humiliation and sexual violence by their employers.

  8. cbeexo526 posted some shocking facts on AIDS. It's scary to think something as small as a sore throat may be in actuality, AIDS.

I learned that Atomic Energy accounts for 16% of the world's electricity. And that Atomic Energy is a clean alternative to fossil fuels.

  12. My powerpoint is on aids and i learned that

Some 80% of deaths for 2007 were in Sub-Saharan Africa, a region that also has over two-thirds of adult HIV cases and some 90% of all children living with HIV

At the end of 2007, there were 2 million children living with HIV around the world.

    ReplyDelete
  13. People with AIDS have had their immune system depleted by HIV and are very susceptible to these opportunistic infections. Common symptoms are fevers, sweats (particularly at night), swollen glands, chills, weakness, and weight loss.

  19. I am doing my power point on the Iraq War and Terrorism.

The total amount of deaths on 9/11 was 2,995. That's a preety high number, but I thought it would be higher.

The actual invasion that took place in Iraq only lasted for about 2 and a half weeks. America invaded Iraq on March 23, 2003, and ended on April 12, 2003. We are still in Iraq today because we feel the need to stabalize their government. The Iraqi citizens do not American troops there anymore.

Computers & monitors in sleep mode consume as much energy as they do while they are in use.

2.7 tons of plastic are used yearly to make bottled water; 86 percent became garbage or litter.

Perchlorate, an explosive ingredient in solid rocket fuel, has been found in at least traces in the waters of as many twenty-two states. Pregnant women who drink this water will increase their risk of thyroid problems and other really serious conditions.

camx723 said that "Americans use 2.2 billion pounds of pesticides each year." That's NOT cool. Everyone, not just Americans, should stop using pesticides with chemicals. Try using a natural alternative to get rid of bugs by looking in books about the earth, not just using "earth-killing" chemicals.
