  2. Poverty is the condition of lacking basic human needs such as nutrition, clean water, health care, clothing, and shelter because of the inability to afford them. This is also referred to as absolute poverty or destitution. Relative poverty is the condition of having fewer resources or less income than others within a society or country, or compared to worldwide averages.

  3. Poverty is a call to action -- for the poor and the wealthy alike -- a call to change the world so that many more may have enough to eat, adequate shelter, access to education and health, protection from violence, and a voice in what happens in their communities.

  9. click5krazy said to sponser a child from another country...thats a really good idea because it is directly helping someone.

  10. birth control should be sent to these countries, it sounds mean but people over there are still reproducing, and once a child can no longer get food from its mother, it starts to starve.
Opening trade for these developing countries to sell their crops would provide more income for these countries making their economies strongeerr

  11. Give any donation you can.. the littlest effort can make a huge difference for someone else

    ReplyDelete
  19. People who go overseas and help are the ones who know how life is over there from our viewpoint. Nobody really understands how bad it is over there until they themselves see it at a firsthand view.

    ReplyDelete
  20. dsdbsrudolph had a great point. I don't think anyone can truly know how great of a life we have until they see the other end of the spectrum.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think that if everyone joins an organization, like x3js09 suggested, peolpe can make a positive impact on less fortunate countries

    ReplyDelete
  22. I would think that a good idea would be maybe taking some of the countries taxes and putting it in to feed hungry families.

    ReplyDelete
  23. There are many things people can do to help others in poverty-stricken countries. People could go to a country and volunteer as an educator, or someone who can provide some type of health care. As a group we could host a fundraiser that would benefit the people in the poorer countries. We could collect books, canned goods, and money. These things could benefit the people in a big way.

    ReplyDelete
  35. http://www.feedthechildren.org/site/PageServer?pagename=dotorg_homepage

that website helps donate food to kids that really need it. If we took more time donating and less time eating uneccissarily we could wipe out obesity and hunger all at once.

    ReplyDelete
  42. People in the United States should help poverty stricken countries by donating money, because just a few dollars could help a family eat. Its tough for americans to imagine being poor because we dont have to go through it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. ------Mark is right, birth control would help stop the problem.

--------Sarah that is a good point. We need to concentrate on poverty in our country

    ReplyDelete
  44. We could bring in equipment and supplies required for farming and tech them to provide for themselves. That way we don't lose the money we need but still help other people.

    ReplyDelete
  45. We could do food can drives and raise as much as we can. If you think about it you dont need or use all the food in your house so instead of throwing it out, donate it.

    ReplyDelete
  51. get others involved in the community such as donating food or getting involved in organizations

shelbi said We could being them things they need like clothing and shoes so they won't be without. -- that is a very easy thing to do because you can donate any unwanted clothes in one of those donation boxes, which are everywhere.

  52. if people eat only one vegetarian/vegan meal a week (and I don't mean just a plain old salad), then millions of lives could be saved since most of the world's grain goes to feeding livestock. Eating less meat will reduce the rate of breeeding livestock, thus allowing more of the grain to be given to starving orphans

    ReplyDelete
  53. help by donating money and food to organizations

    ReplyDelete
  54. if everyone put in money it would help
